Years ago I was listening to a someone discuss some of the latest and greatest technological advances. One of the things he talked about was the fact that we could now send "electronic mail" from our computer, and our friends, family, and colleagues could access these messages from any location in the world using their computers.
Call it naiveté, but my initial reaction was, "why don't you just write a letter or call them?". At that time I had no desire to learn how my computer could "pass notes" to other computers. Yet, within a few years, I was buying the stocks of the companies that were making those and other technological revolutions possible.
Once again, I'm consciously pushing back against what some might consider a Luddite-like tendency that I have to avoid the newest "cool and hip" technology until it practically becomes a necessity.
